Gold Rose Tarot

A down-to-earth exploration of the art of Tarot

I need to call her! (This is Samm, by the way)

But while she’s on hiatus and because we’ve had more than a handful of requests, if you are interested in having a free Tarot reading, I am officially offering to do 3-5 card readings on my personal time - simply email your question to my Gmail account (arokis.arts@gmail.com)

However, there are a few rules and guidelines with this offer:

  1. You can ask up to two questions a month. That’s it. And I -will- try to keep track but this is primarily based on the honor system. A single person abusing this offer does have the potential to ruin it for everyone else, so don’t do it.
  2. All I ask in return is that you give me honest feedback and that if you’re happy with your reading you pass my name on to at least one other person who might be interested in working with me or having a reading.
  3. Readings are performed on a first come, first serve basis based on my school and work schedule. This means I can usually tackle 3-4 readings a week at this point in time. I will try and let you know when to expect your reading by.
  4. If you don’t give me feedback…and you ask me to do a reading for you in the future, I have a right to decline. This is an energy exchange. I’m offering to get my name out there and to build my skills after coming off really bad reader’s burnout, please don’t make me want to go back into “retirement”
  5. PLEASE READ MY CODE OF ETHICS BEFORE SENDING ME AN EMAIL!
~~**Code of Ethics**~~

I am a member of the American Tarot Association as well as Tarot Professionals.
  • I will strive at all times to give you the very best advice of which I am capable. Your reading is confidential and will be conducted with compassion, honesty and integrity.
  • I recommend you seek competent medical or psychological assistance from a healthcare professional if you have any disease, illness, or disorder.
  • I recommend you seek competent financial assistance from a banker, broker, or financial consultant before you make any financial transactions.
  • I recommend you seek competent legal assistance from a qualified attorney if you have any legal problems.
  • To protect the privacy of others, I will not read on a third party (e.g. “Does X really love Y?”). Where possible, I will rephrase the question to focus the reading on what is directly related to you.
  • I will not read on matters regarding health (besides general well-being), legal, financial or other issues where I feel that you need the assistance and insight of a professional.
  • I have a right to refuse to read for you if I feel uncomfortable with your question or do not feel as though I have a connection.
  • I will provide guidance and insight in your reading, but you have the free will to choose whether you will follow this guidance or not. You are therefore responsible for your actions following your reading.
  • Tarot and oracle cards are neither good nor bad, though they can be used to encourage, give hope, and identify options for future behavior. The same holds true for any information gathered through intuitive means.
  • Your reading is a complete service in itself. You are not required to purchase anything.
  • All services are performed as entertainment only and are not offered with any guarantee or false claims of potency. Please be advised that while all services are provided in good faith, I am not legally responsible for any of the consequences resulting from your action (or lack thereof) after working with me. Please be responsible for your own life and well-being and use common sense!

I have a particular relationship that I need to have looked at by a person who is totally unbiased in any way, shape, or form so that I can get some objective information, insight and feedback. I think I have an idea of what is going on here, but I don’t want to bias any reading or outside analysis by stating what my theories are.

I’m willing to exchange readings or something of that nature if someone is willing to help me out. Drop a note in the inbox and we’ll work something out.

Much appreciated.

Ok folks, I want to know - how do you read?

  • do you read… face to face?
  • online?
  • over the telephone?
  • only for yourself?
  • only paid readings?
  • when you deal with a client/sitter, do you let them tell you the whole story?
  • how much information (or how little) do you need to start?
  • what is your…

Samm here!

Ok folks, I want to know - how do you read? LIKE A MAD WOMAN, MUAHAHAHA!

do you read… face to face? Yes, I have. There’s a local art show where I read for free but I was having a hard time swinging the table fee because nobody felt like tipping and I wasn’t getting good feedback to justify the time (sounds selfish, I know)

online? Yeppers, I offer paid readings through my personal website and I do free ones for people when it strikes me and if they know where to find me ;)

over the telephone? Ditto, check it out over here

only for yourself? I’ve primarily read for others since day one, actually =)

only paid readings? That’s why I haven’t been reading very much. I’m sort of shy about charging even though I get very, very frustrated with most people who ask for free readings. RUDE PEOPLE RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE.

when you deal with a client/sitter, do you let them tell you the whole story? You bet your gosh damn skippy. I’ll tell you how I see it whether you’re hoping for my answer or not. There are ways to be honest without being brutal and cruel.

how much information (or how little) do you need to start? First name to concentrate on, general details of the question/situation - I *do not* like extraneous information - and whether or not a person involved by proxy is deceased or not. Don’t play ‘test the psychic’, y’all, it ain’t cute.

what is your ultimate goal when you read? To give my clients clarity when it comes to their situation and to give them plenty of food for thought in order to formulate and pursue the choice that is in their best and highest good.

when do you consider a reading ‘done’? Usually when I can’t get my intuition to pump out anymore information. I type up/speak my readings stream of consciousness and I literally just let Spirit rip continuously without a filter before going back and making edits where appropriate for readability, etc.

how do you deal with people who want you to step outside of your comfort zone? Depends on the comfort zone we’re talking about. Ethically speaking, when in doubt, that shit is OUT. Anything else is really negotiable.

speaking of which, what IS your comfort zone? what do you prefer to do? how does your dream client act? I operate within ATA standards of ethics, so anything that could possibly violate those principles is a no-go. I prefer reading by email because it allows me to concentrate and work at my own pace, as I’m still very, very, very intuitively/energetically sensitive and it shows. My dream client is realistic, action-oriented and positive, not desperate, emotionally unstable and immature. I thoroughly dislike doing ‘triage’ readings and working with clients who are energetic vampires.

what aren’t you comfortable doing, as a reader? Health readings, pure predictions, financial decisions. Anything where I get a sense that the client is emotionally wounded or has a problem with psychic addiction.

what is your forte? what is your biggest strength as a reader? Maximizing the minimal - I can get a crapton of information for my clients out of smaller-sized readings. I’m still not sure what my biggest strength is, actually. Probably connecting the dots and turning intuitive gibberish into coherent thoughts.

what do people tell you they like most about your readings? I’ve been told I’m very detailed and sensitive. Additionally, I’m apparently very positive and empowering without being ridiculous even when the message coming through is sort of crapsy. I take those as being pluses.

Is there anything in particular about Tarot or intuitive gifts that you’d like Gold Rose Tarot to explore?

The well of inspiration has run a bit dry and we haven’t really gotten very much interactive feedback from people who have liked and reblogged posts. I’ve got a general idea of what you all dig, but hearing it directly from you would be great!

And just to make the incentive to be chatty more delightful…

The first three people to put suggestions in the inbox will get a 3-card reading from me, Samm.

Go go go!

I decided to take a risk and play along with Denise Duffield Thomas’ manifestation crap because I felt like plunging myself further into misery and depression by inevitably assuming it was crap and it wouldn’t work. One of the things I put - the thing I probably needed the most - was that I wanted a, and I directly quote, “an incredible, generous, kind and intelligent man.” Two weeks later, I met Mr. C.

Around the Tarot in 78 Days: A Personal Journey Through the Cards

This looks like it would be an excellent tarot guide for beginners such as myself. ^_^

Samm here

Yes and no. I have the book and I took the free course with Tarot Professionals (which I’m a member of - I’ve even done a reading for Marcus Katz himself), and I honestly don’t recommend this book for beginners unless you have a slightly more than beginner familiar with general esoteric principles and Kabbalah. All of Marcus and Tali’s works are oriented towards an esoteric/traditionalist style of reading Tarot and that can be really overwhelming for people who are entirely unfamiliar with magick and esoteric principles.

But, that’s just my two cents. I’m a fierce advocate of ditching the damn books and reading purely off of intuition (for other people besides friends, family and self), especially for the first three months, before even considering looking at other people’s materials. The person whose techniques you need to know best, if you want to become the best reader you can be, are your own and you won’t be able to do that if you’re immediately parroting authors you’ve read from day one. I’m a masochist, though :P

According to my Tarot reading today..

I will get no man this year.

and INSTANT DEATH CARD in my love life.

Death Card doesn’t always mean ‘no’ or anything bad…the card ya should be nervous about seeing is the Tower, which is far, far more negative :P

Death in the Tarot is a metaphor for change and transformation - on the card, the sun peaks out from the background, the image being so ambiguous (unless you take into account direction of the Sun’s movement in the sky) that we can’t tell if it’s rising or setting. Just like the present moment, we are in evolution - between what has been and what will be. Taking into account the direction of the Sun’s movement in the sky on a regular basis, it’s sunset, which is a state of flux regardless: it is the end of one day and the beginning of the next. The king upon the ground, the crown off his head, can be interpreted as unseating the ego - when we die, our consciousness disconnects from the material and reverts back to the simple form it inhabited prior to our manifestation in this lifetime and this form - just like the crown transforms a king from a simple man to a mighty ruler. The people in front of change are symbols of the fears that typically prevent us from allowing necessary change to occur: innocence and naivety (the child), self-absorption and arrogance (the teenaged child), and our reliance on dogma and rigid structure (the Pope/bishop figure). Death is the ultimate form of change and one of the things we fear the most, so it is an excellent ambassador for this universal archetype.

I get the sense, on an intuitive level, that instead of giving you a ‘yes/no/maybe’, Spirit is simply relating to you what you can do if you truly want someone in your life. Something you’re doing is blocking this change from occurring - are you really preoccupied with your own life outside of social relationships right now? Do you put out a vibe that makes it seem like you don’t want, or are incapable of having, a solid relationship at this point in time? Do you still have concerns or fears you haven’t addressed or things you haven’t been willing to release to make room for a new person in your emotional and social life? These are more examples/food for thought more than anything, because I don’t know you from Eve, but I get the sense that really what your reading was telling you that you’re in a state of change and flux right now and that until this change (or the necessary changes) are complete.

Totally unsolicited advice and interpretation, but I felt compelled to say something. I hope you don’t mind and if you do, feel free to make fun of me or whatever.

Part 2 of my blogging about my spiritual experiences in terms of intuition, mediumship, etc, in addition to being a Tarot reader. This is more of an exploration of my thoughts and feelings, in addition to a few other experiences, in order to get feedback and opinions from our readers as well as letting other people know that they’re not nuts if they have progressed from Tarot to other spiritual frontiers.

Anyone interested in hearing about my experience using Tarot (with? facilitating? I’m not even entirely sure myself?) and mediumship? I have permission from my client/querent (I always refer to my sitters as clients just because I like to be professional, even if I’m not actually a professional…)…

do it! This is what I do on a regular basis with clients. It’d be nice to know if I’m a freak or if that’s how people naturally evolve in readings… XD

Just in case you didn’t see my massive wall of words…
